Job Title: Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher

 

Location: Dover School & Wardsboro School, East Dover, Vermont & Wardsboro, Vermont

 

Position Overview:
Dover School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher to join our team for at least 6 weeks. The ideal candidate will inspire students' love of music through engaging instruction in both vocal and instrumental music. This individual will have the opportunity to work with students from a variety of grade levels, helping them develop their musical skills, appreciation for different genres, and understanding of music theory.

 

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver music instruction for elementary school students.
- Teach general music classes, including vocal and instrumental instruction, while accommodating various skill levels.
- Create a supportive and positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Prepare students for performances, including concerts and school events.
- Collaborate with other staff members and support school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain classroom management and ensure a safe learning environment.
- Provide feedback and assessments to monitor students’ musical development.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as necessary about student progress.

 

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid Vermont teaching certification or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience teaching music in a school setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Ability to play and teach a variety of musical instruments (piano, guitar, etc. preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Employment Type: Full-time, Temporary (Long-Term)

 

Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the school's pay scale.
